Friends of Lake Claremont Tree Day Site Details

Friends of Lake Claremont

Join the Friends of lake Claremont as we continue restoring Lake Claremont, a Conservation Category Wetland and Bush Forever Site. Our goal for the morning is to plant 1000 native seedlings on the eastern wetland buffer where 7 Moreton Bay Figs were removed due to an infestation of the Polyphagous Shot-hole Borer (PSHB). The figs were not indigenous to Perth, so replacement with local plants will result in an increase in wildlife habitat for insects, frogs, birds, and quendas. The vegetation will also provide cover for female snaked-necked turtles from ravens when they come out of the water to nest. The turtles are on the decline throughout the southwest of WA. This project is proudly supported by Bupa and Landcare Australia
