Rotary Adopt A Tree- Penrose
John and Emma Duffy embarked on their re-greening journey at their property at Penrose, 10 years ago. Previously, the property had been cleared for grazing which has led to a loss of tree canopy and loss of diversity in the understorey. They are committed to transforming the landscape and have participated in several "Glossies in the Mist'' re-greening events organised by the National Parks and Wildlife Service and supported by Southern Highlands Landcare and Oatley Flora and Fauna Conservation Society. Their 40ha property forms a corridor for Glossy Black Cockatoos and other wildlife. The upcoming planting of 600 trees will form part of a continuous 1200m corridor from the front of the property to the river. The tubestock comprising eucalypts and allocasuarina have been grown the Menai Wildflower Group using seed gathered from the Southern Highlands. They are happy for people to camp on the property, however there are no facilities.
