Friends of Gardiners Creek Reserve National Tree Planting Day

There is a copse of gums where the understory has sadly deteriorated. We want to develop this as a haven for small birds, linking up with other biodiversity developments in the Reserve. We have already planted a perimeter of bushy acacias as a barrier to animals and now want to infill with ground covers and shrubs to give small birds a safe area. Alongside grasses we want to plant spiny plants such as Bursaria and Bushy Needlewood as well as insect attracting plants. This area will be the closest to the Victorian Suburban Rail Loop Burwood Station. We want it to be a showcase for the local environment when the station is built over the next three years.
