Virginia Bushcare Group

Virginia Bushcare Group (VBG) have begun a revegetation project of Downfall Creek starting at Brickyard Road and working back towards Newman Road. Brisbane City Council has approved the site for revegetation. Tree day will be an opportunity to infill areas that have been previously planted as well as plant the next sections that have been prepared for tree day.

DIRECTIONS

Brickyard Road runs off Bilsen Road. If you are coming from suburbs north of Brickyard Road, you can turn off Sandgate Road into Pritchard Road and then left into Bilsen Road, follow it to the end where it vias left into Brickyard Road. Continue to the end of the road. If you are coming from suburbs west of Brickyard Road, it is best to find you way onto Ellison Road and continue to the end. Then turn right into Bilsen Road, follow it to the end where it vias left into Brickyard Road. Continue to the end of the road. If you are coming from suburbs south of Brickyard Road, you can turn off Sandgate Road into Jefferis Street and then right into Brickyard Road. You should see Virginia State school on your right. If you are coming from suburbs east of Brickyard Road, you have two choices: 1. you can turn off Sandgate Road into Pritchard Road and then left into Bilsen Road, follow it to the end where it vias left into Brickyard Road and continue to the end of the road, or 2. you can turn off Sandgate Road into Jefferis Street and then right into Brickyard Road. You should see Virginia State school on your right.

Suggested items to bring: 1. Personal sun safety - hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, long sleeved shirt 2. Personal safety - garden gloves, suitable covered shoes, long pants (stops the itching caused by grass/insects), insect repellent, hand sanitizer, kneeling foam (optional) 3. Personal water bottle - for hydration, hygiene purposes and restricting any cross infection 4. Communication device - mobile phone, headphones (optional) 5. Finance - It is planned to have food and drink vendors on site. You can purchase from food trucks, coffee van, BBQ and perhaps local community groups (environmental and natural products).
