The Flying fox reserve planting day forms part of a grant project that Fairfield City Council is undertaking with funds made available through Local Government NSW. The Cabramatta flying fox camp has moved through the current site over the past decades. This project will investigate whether flying-foxes move to improved habitat. By restoring and rehabilitating the canopy and mid-story of an area of 1.8 ha of threatened ecological community (River-flat Eucalyptus forest on Coastal Floodplains) by installing 15,000 plants. The project will also increase community awareness and positivity towards the grey headed flying fox including the camp and foraging habitat in Fairfield City Council area. By positively influence the levels of understanding about flying foxes in a culturally diverse community.
