Osborne's Connecting Woodland Habitats Tree Day Site Details

Osborne's Connecting Woodland Habitats

This project aims to connect two significant areas of grassy box woodland and valuable roadside vegetation. This will help facilitate movement of the threatened squirrel glider which is known to exist in the area and also provide valuable feed plants for the species. The planting will also enhance habitat for woodland birds in the area, particularly those species that require shrubs and small trees for nesting and predator avoidance. As this planting will be within the flight path of the Albury airport there is a height restriction on the trees that can be planted so we will be limiting our planting to small trees and shrubs. This will be of great benefit to many of the threatened woodland birds known to exist in the area. Importantly, this planting will provide improved visual amenity for the area which is increasingly being subdivided for housing development
