Highlighting National Tree Day celebrations across Australia

From nature journaling to making clay pots, engaging in tree art and texture play, collaborating, and sharing information with the younger generation and those around us, there are countless ways to celebrate Tree Day.
One of our favourite activities is to browse through the thousands of tags from National Tree Day on Instagram, Facebook, and media mentions. It takes Planet Ark's Tree Day support team days to review all of the posts, but we thoroughly enjoy observing the diverse ways in which communities, schools, councils, and workplaces commemorate National Tree Day.

Celebrating 100 days of kindergarten
The youngest learners at Snowy Mountains Grammar School celebrated by planting trees and shrubs for National Tree Day, fostering growth, discovery, and teamwork.
Nature play
We see first-hand the positive impacts of time in nature through the thousands of students who get involved in Schools Tree Day each year and the joy it brings them. Acacia Play celebrated National Tree Day with all our favourite things.
Connect with community gardens
Belgrave Food Garden celebrated National Tree Day by planting edible seedlings to establish Belgrave's community food forest.
Play with clay
Students from Aeon Academy moved mulch, planted trees and made garden pots! A beautiful way to disconnect from screens.

Libraries around Australia shared their top tree books to celebrate National Tree Day. Many artists and photographers shared their paintings and nature photography too.
Planting one for the animals
Koalas, western ringtail possums, bandicoots, southern cassowaries – each year we meet new groups planting habitat for our precious species.
Sending a heartfelt thank you to all the site coordinators who dedicated their time and effort to hosting events, as well as to all the volunteers who pitched in to celebrate trees.
Jen worked as a vet nurse while studying environmental science and completing her master's degree in Journalism. She loves bushwalking, storytelling, caring for baby animals, Australian birds and river red gums. Jen works on the National Tree Day campaign and Planet Ark's Seedling Bank.
