Wilkins Green Tree Day Site Details

Wilkins Green

Wilkins Green is the green heart of the Inner West. An environmentally unique and beautiful oasis amidst the high density urban jungle - Here volunteer community members manage, conserve and care for land. The Wilkins Green is home to the school Environmental Education Program, Community groups, Garden plots for our neighbours, The Wilkins chickens, our native bees, and lots of bird life. For National Tree Day, our goal is to plant 150+ native plants, endemic to our area. This will increase the genetic bio-diversity for our city, our citizens and all other living creatures who rely on bushland to survive. Beyond Carbon Neutral, our long term goal is to regenerate a native Bush Land reminiscent of pre-industrialised Marrickville - a self-sustaining sanctuary where green space is not annexed as an after thought to development but a way of life. Come and join the wider Wilkins community on our biggest planting day of the year. We will be healing land, creating habitat, planting out food forests and caring for past planting sites as well. No experience necessary - come for the day or for an hour - Acknowledgment to country to begin proceedings at 12:30 - All welcome.
