National Tree Day
The Home Island Garden Plot has been a success throughout the years which the locals are assigned a plot to raise and cultivate fresh produce for their own consumption. The volunteers aim to replant many tropical flora species along the two road that run parallel to these plots to screen the area and reintroduce local species of plants. These tropical flora will include plants such as Pemphis arcidulla, cordia subcordata, terminalia catappa, morinda citriofolia are to name a few.

The National Tree Day site will be located between Jalan Kipas and Jalan Kampong Atas on Home Island.
Volunteers are asked to wear long sleeve shirts, sunglasses, long pants or board shorts and hat. The Shire will also be providing sunscreen for volunteers. The volunteers will meet at the site as nominated. Shire staff will also be available to assist volunteers and the planting. Everyone will finish planting at 12.00pm and will then make their way to the Home Island Tennis Courts for refreshments and a BBQ. There will also be a presentation to thank everyone for their help.
