Latrobe City Council Community National Tree Planting Day
College Park in Newborough has been chosen as the site for the combined 2019 National Tree Planting Day activities. Latrobe City Council is currently undergoing an extensive weed and revegetation program at College Park and this is the second year of the three year program. The weed and revegetation program is aimed to increase local biodiversity for College Park by removing the weed plant species and replanting with indigenous plant species. This large patch of vegetation will act as corridor to help fauna travel through the site and encourage them to stay and breed in healthier habitat conditions. Water quality improves with bank stabilisation planting therefore providing healthier habitat for aquatic species. Healthy parks makes for active people. As such, Latrobe City Council aims to bring the community to the park by positive interaction in an beautiful environment. Healthy parks makes for active people.
