Tree Planting for Wildlife Tree Day Site Details

Tree Planting for Wildlife

This National Tree Day (our fifth and most spectacular edition) we will be planting a beautiful mixture of 1000 trees, shrubs and native groundcovers along the banks of Pioneer Creek. This event is family friendly and suited for people of all ages! Thanks to consecutive funding support from Local Land Services, restoration of Pioneer Creek started in 2020 and is now in its third and final stage. This National Tree Day, the planting will help link up wildlife corridors and allow our unique nocturnal wildlife like the Squirrel Glider and Northern Brown Bandicoot feed and travel along all our creek lines. Ground cover planting including native grasses, vines and wildflowers will support pollinators like bees! Canopy planting species like Swamp Mahogany (Eucalyptus robusta) will support threatened birds like the Swift Parrot and Regent Honeyeater which travel far and wide to forage on favourite flowering trees. **Highlights** *Learn about the importance of forested wetland ecosystems and the biodiversity value of Central Coast Wetlands. *Explore our regenerated habitat while enjoying some bird watching! *All planting will be done into pre-prepared holes! *Free BBQ lunch provided! *All participants receive a special (limited edition) T-shirt that celebrates the habitat planting at Central Coast Wetlands!
