Frankston City National Tree Day Event 2025 - Lloyd Park, Langwarrin
This National Tree Day, the community is invited to roll up their sleeves and make history—again—by continuing the forest planted at Lloyd Park back in 2014. On that memorable winter’s day over a decade ago, more than 60 passionate community members came together to plant 1800 native trees and large shrubs, laying the foundations for what has since grown into a thriving habitat. Now in 2025, we are returning to the site to build on that achievement, enhancing biodiversity by enhancing the understory planting. Lloyd Park’s forest began as part of a habitat creation project partially funded by the Federal Government through the Westernport Biosphere. Thanks to careful preparation by the Natural Reserves team and the enthusiastic involvement of local residents—from children and Scouts to retirees—that once-vacant land is now home to a healthy, maturing forest. The 2025 planting site has been prepared to ensure ideal conditions for native trees, shrubs, and understorey plants that will provide food and shelter for local wildlife. This year’s planting will also help improve habitat connectivity and climate resilience in the area. Whether you were there in 2014 or this will be your first planting day, the Council welcomes you to come along, get your hands dirty, and be part of something meaningful. Tools, gloves, and light refreshments will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring water, sun protection, and wear sturdy shoes. Let’s come together again as a community to plant for the future—and watch our forest grow. Parking is available on street along Pindara Blvd and side streets, Meet near the playground. Access will require walking across grass, which may be muddy. Unfortunately, wheelchairs access is not available. Please note that this is dog and pet free event.
