Cygnet Childrens Centre
We would love to open up our doors to our beautiful local Cygnet community to join us in planting a variety of natives within the grounds of the Cygnet Community Children's Centre with a focus on bush tucker. We are in the process of landscaping our children's outdoor spaces and are looking to create an outdoor learning space that becomes a classroom centred around indigenous culture and cuisine. These plantings will then filter back into our kitchen garden program where our gardener and school aged children discover not only what our indigenous foods look and taste like, but also what conditions they need to grow in and what care they require in order to keep them thriving and healthy. We will also learn how these plants help to support the local fauna in our area. These foods will then be used in our kitchen where children will learn how to harvest, prepare and process these foods and then enjoy them as a part of their afternoon tea program.
