Nature Glenelg Trust - Hutt Bay
Hutt Bay Wetland Reserve includes an extensive coastal wetland complemented by dry-land tea-tree woodland and coastal dune scrub that adjoins Hutt Bay. It is a little under 160 ha in size and since 2019 when it was generously donated by Rob and Deb Thompson, Nature Glenelg Trust have undertaken restoration works to reinstate the wetland and the surrounding vegetation. Since restoration began, the property has hosted Brolgas and a variety of other wetland birds, and mammal trapping during 2021 in the small area of remnant tea-tree heath captured swamp antechinus (Antechinus minimus maritimus). This planting day will continue the work of previous years, adding to the tea-tree woodland surrounding the wetland.
