Oxley Creek Common Tree Planting
Our aim is to improve the health and biodiversity of the riparian corridor along Oxley Creek by planting endemic species and encouraging natural regeneration by removing weed species. Oxley Creek Common flooded in both 2011 and 2022 and has been subject to long term disturbance from agricultural and industrial activities conducted immediately adjacent to the site and upstream. Oxley Creek Common is an important node for biodiversity within two ecological corridors. One is the nationally recognised Flinders- Karawatha Wildlife corridor and the other, a stepping stone corridor to Toohey Forest, home to one of the few urban koala populations on the southside of Brisbane. We want to protect and enhance the vegetation communities present to ensure that it continues to provide a refuge for flora and fauna within our urban environment.
