Rotary Club of Bendigo Sandhurst

The Comet Creek Natural Features Reserve is an area of land in North Bendigo bordered by Lightning Reef Primary School (LRPS), Holmes Rd, Holdsworth Rd and the Bendigo/Eaglehawk railway line. Its area is approximately 300m x 60m (1.8 hectares). A section of the Long Gully Creek runs the length of the Reserve. Our Aims are: 1. Improve the habitat of the Reserve through removal of invasive non-native flora and replacement with native plants chosen to be consistent with the location prior to urban development. 2. Improve habitat for native birds and small native animals, frogs and insect species. 3. Monitor and improve the quality of water flowing and/or pooling in the section of Long Gully creek passing through the reserve. 4. Provide an area for the LR school to use for educational purposes including, nature studies, conservation and sustainability of the environment.
