Toyota Australia has doubled the number of trees donated as part of the Footy Forest initiative.

Planet Ark and National Tree Day Major Sponsor Toyota Australia teamed up with the Australian Football League (AFL) during the sustainability rounds. Toyota Australia pledged to plant a seedling for every point scored across all games in rounds 17-19.

There was a total of 4,488 points scored across the three rounds and Toyota Australia has announced they will double the number of seedlings donated, which will see a total of 8,976 trees planted.

Toyota Australia Chief Marketing Officer Vin Naidoo said Toyota was incredibly proud to work with Planet Ark and the AFL on The Footy Forest initiative.

"The Footy Forest builds on the strong community work done throughout the Good for Footy campaign. Toyota Australia is dedicated to providing Australian communities with a broad range of initiatives, and bringing economic and environmental benefits to sporting clubs and communities across the country," Mr Naidoo said.

The initiative aims to raise awareness of the importance of connecting with nature and planting more native trees across Australia. The seedlings will be available to schools and community groups who apply for a grant through The Seedling Bank.
