Fern Creek Landcare
This will be held as one of Fern Creek Landcare's monthly Landcare sessions. Starting in March, we are beginning the process of ecological restoration of the Redhead Lagoon- a freshwater lake in Awabakal Reserve. This Lagoon is host to a multitude of Threatened Flora, Fauna and Endangered Ecological Communities. By August, we will have cleared patches in these EEC's to plant out supplementary regenerative canopy species, habitat plants for threatened fauna and ground covers. Fern Creek Landcare is the fastest-growing and youngest mean aged Landcare group in the Lake Macquarie Region. We have a proven track-record of community engagement and the aim of this event is to promote awareness and education of this natural asset, as well as further engagement with the local population- all with the positive benefits of habitat restoration for native species.
