Springfield Lakes Nature Care INC

1. To restore historic Woogaroo Scrub in Opossum Creek 2. Provide native plants for habitat & food for endangered animals Powerful Owl & Tusked Frog and create biodiversity. 3. Enhance the area with a variety of mid storey plants shrubs to increase the small bird population that inhabits the area, finches, robins and honeyeaters. 4. To provide mental health and exercise for people in the region who have been effected by Covid19 enable an opportunity to do something worthwhile and be able to see results of revegetation. Opossum Creek Revegetation Project was initiated by Springfield Lakes Nature care Inc, a Landcare group to continue the revegation work done by the late Lloyd Bird OAM from 1990-2009. Lloyd & his Woogaroo Environmental team sort to address the native and rare plants found in the Woogaroo Scrub. Now it's another generation's turn to help lend a hand to help the environment and create habitat for threatened species.

Park in Lomandra Court. Take the pathway at end of Lomandra Court and turn Right at the Springfield Central Parkland sign and take the right hand track heading towards Springfield Lakes direction. Continue approx 250 metres along the Louise Clews Walkway heading towards Opposum Creek Plaklands. An A-Frame Sign Showing Bushcare will direct you to the site. You will see the Springfield Lakes Nature Care Banner and Registration Tent on left hand side of track.


Volunteers are encouraged to byo Gloves and watering can as SLNC only have a limited amount. SLNC will provide morning tea coffee/tea and juice with cake and fruit. You are welcome to Byo your own thermos cup & drink bottle to reduce waste. Please wear long pants and closed in shoes and a hat. SLNC will provide sunscreen. Please note there are no toilets on site but there is a toilet located within a short drive. Please do not attend if you are unwell experiencing flu-like symptoms.
