National Tree Day: Replanting Euro Hill at Racecourse

-We need to replant the hill slope where Telford Avenue was widened and cleared to improve access & pedestrian safety. -Euros, birds, reptiles and other animals living on this hill will have more pasture and shelter. -Prior groundwork of swales, channels, drainage lines, and Zai pits will provide suitable seedling planting areas, and continuing water supply in what is an arid area - Stable straw and manure will provide nutrients and mulch for plants and soil improvement -Seedlings will be hand-watered initially if needed (BOM expects good rain in June/July/August) This planting will complement an earlier successful National Tree planting along the entrance to the racecourse (the reason why Landcare was asked to consider regenerating this cleared slope).
