Riverina Highlands Landcare Network

Riverina Highlands Landcare Network has again joined forces with Snowy Valleys Council to assist local residents to take part in National Tree Day week, Australia's biggest community tree-planting and nature-care event. Throughout the week residents of Snowy Valleys Council can take part in Australia's biggest community tree planting and nature-care event through a locally native plant give away to community groups, schools and residents. From Monday the 23rd of July to Friday the 27th of July local residents, can visit the Landcare Nursery in Tumut and collect a free native tree, shrub or understorey plant. A variety of native plants will be available from small flowering shrubs for the gardener through to large trees for farmers and all plants are suited to our local climate. Residents are encouraged to come down to the Landcare Nursery early during the week to have first pick at the plants on offer. The Landcare Nursery is located on Gocup rd (opposite Snowy Works and Services). Residents will also be given a copy of the “Your Guide to Creating a Native Garden in the Riverina Highlands” to help them make better decisions about what to plant and where.
