In Technology lessons, Year 1 and 2 students investigated, designed and created a new insect. They collected natural materials that would match the different parts of their designs.
1. Investigate/research bugs and insects. Draw and identify parts.Identify what a bug or insect needs to have.
2. Design an insect from the information gathered.
3. Explore the school grounds to make a collection of a variety of sticks, seedpods and leaves to use for creating their insect.
4 Use the design to make the insect. Modify as pieces found, better suit the model.
5 Create a tag with name of the insect.
6 Display the insects for all the school to view.
Students used a range of tools during construction; saws hot glue gun, pliers, scissors.
