National Tree Day Case Studies - Kelly's Plains School, Armidale, NSW

Kelly's Plains School, Armidale, NSW

Schools Tree Day 2010 provided the perfect opportunity for the Bunnings Warehouse Armidale team to assist the students at Kelly's Plains School. Bunnings Team Members and students worked together to plant native oaks, bottlebrush and acacias to improve their native gardens. Kelly’s Plains School has a commitment to outdoor learning and this activity was a practical hands-on component of their environmental studies.

After opening in May 2010, Bunnings Warehouse Armidale has begun to build strong relationships with local schools such as Kelly’s Plains School and other community groups. Bunnings Warehouse Armidale has also been asked to assist the local River Care Group with future native plantings.

"In 2010, Bunnings Armidale assisted the school in improving the native gardens and outdoor learning area. This area is used by the students for outdoor study including science and sustainability topics. The support of Bunnings Armidale is greatly appreciated and has added to the aesthetics of the school as well as improving a valuable learning resource." - Mr Brad Hunt, Principal, Kelly's Plains School.
